The Australian University Games are fast approaching for 2011, so the UNSW Volleyball Club is holding a Trivia Night to raise some funds to help our teams.

Where: UNSW Sam Cracknell Pavilion (Lower campus next to the Oval)
When: Saturday 15th October, 6:30pm-12am

Everyone is welcome, so come along and bring some friends!

Details will be finalised closer to the date, but there will most likely be a BBQ at the event.

The UNSW Volleyball Club will be holding tryouts for both the Men’s and Women’s Australian University Games teams over 2 weeks, starting Monday 1st August. The details are as follows:

Date: Monday 1st August and Monday 8th August
Time: 5pm-7pm
Location: Level 1 Courts, UNSW Lifestyle Centre, Cnr Anzac Pde and High St, Kensington

The Australian University Games in 2011 will be held at the Gold Coast from Sunday 25th September to Friday 30th September.

To be eligible to participate, you must be a currently enrolled UNSW Student (undergraduate or postgraduate). Both full-time and part-time students are eligible, as are students on exchange from overseas universities.

If you are interested in participating but cannot attend the tryouts for any reason, please e-mail enquiry@unswvolleyball.org as soon as possible.

After a freezing week in Canberra, the UNSW Volleyball Eastern University Games teams brought home some good results.

The girls went down in the final to a strong Sydney University team, bringing back Silver, while the boys turned the tables and triumphed over Sydney University for the Bronze.

New to volleyball, or just want to improve your basic skills?

The UNSW Volleyball Club offers a Beginners Course, which caters for both complete beginners, and those who have played some volleyball in the past, but want to refresh or improve their basic skills. The course normally runs twice a year, roughly matching up with UNSW Session dates.

In 2011, the Session 2 course will commence on Wednesday 20th July. To join this course simply come along to the Level 1 Courts at the UNSW Lifestyle Centre on Wednesday 20th July at 5pm. If you have have any questions about the course, please e-mail beginners@unswvolleyball.org.

Location: Level 1 Courts, UNSW Lifestyle Centre, Cnr Anzac Pde & High St, Kensington
Day/Time: Wednesday, 5pm-6pm
Duration: 10 weeks
Cost: $70

UNSW entered two Men's teams (Division 1 and Honours) and two Women's teams (Division 1 and Honours) in State Cup 3, held in Newcastle on the 14th and 15th of May.

Faced with a large number of teams and strong competition, neither Men's team made the finals. The women fared better, with the Honours Women going down to Sydney Uni in the Bronze medal match, and the Division 1 Women coming away with Silver.

Date: Monday 16th May and Monday 23rd May
Time: 5pm-7pm
Location: Level 1 Courts, UNSW Lifestyle Centre, Cnr Anzac Pde and High St, Kensington

The Eastern University Games in 2011 will be held in Canberra from Sunday 3rd July to Thursday 7th July. Both our Men’s and Women’s teams are the current defending champions.

To be eligible to participate, you must be a currently enrolled UNSW Student (undergraduate or postgraduate). Both full-time and part-time students are eligible, as are students on exchange from overseas universities.

UNSW sent one Men's team (Division 1) and two Women's teams (Division 1 and Honours) to compete in State Cup 2, held at Illawarra.

Congratulations to the Division 1 Women, who took the Gold after coming through the tournament undefeated.

Congratulations to the Men's and Women's teams for a great effort at State Cup 1 in Orange.

The men came away with a Division 1 Gold, while the women narrowly missed out, bringing home Silver in Division 1 instead.
